The Go To Coach Behind The Lens for Vibrant Visuals

FGM: Its an honor to sit down with you all . Tell us a little about your brand and how you've come to this vastly successful peek in your career .

Answer: The vision for the VySyn Photography brand has evolved as I grew as an artist. Initially, I captured everything then I narrowed it down to intimate creative fashion portraits and events enabling me to develop   styled shoots with clients or special projects with my team and celebrate special events with my clients.

FGM: Who are the clients/what are the projects that you most enjoy working on?

Answer: My clients are typically passionate women of color that are influencers or entrepreneurs making a difference in their communities. My favorite projects are beauty shoots with my MUA trying different  concepts (styles, angles and locations etc).

FGM: How do you feel you make a difference in the world?

Answer: Part of my client experience is to make the client feel comfortable and confident with my approach of transparency and coaching. The impact that I strive to have is to change the client’s mindset on how to work with photographers, build up my client’s confidence beyond the shoot and share knowledge with my clients to apply in pivoting their own businesses.

FGM: Tell us about a time when you showed determination to continue as an entrepreneur

Answer:  It was when I started covering NYFW shows and being the only female photographer in a bunch of experienced male photographers. It was a huge learning experience yet I persevered and allowed my “I Got This” confidence to takeover to effectively capture the designs and models rather than allow my nervousness to distract me.

FGM: Give me the three best qualities of your brand

Answer:  I would say the overarching qualifies of the VySyn Photography brand is the ability to be transparent with our clients along every step of the way, our innate ability to be supportive on set to bring out our clients’ confidence and, lastly. our ability to deliver vibrant images.

FGM: Give me an example of when you worked irregular hours?

Answer: i work during the day as an operations director at a nonprofit so I normally shoot on the weekends so a client had a music project to release and couldn’t wait until the weekend to shoot. So, we ended up shooting right after my day job into the late night hours. The shoot was amazing because I got a first listen to her project which gave us both an immense inspiration during the shoot.

FGM: Being a entrepreneur is a 24/7 job, how did you get ready for that?

Answer:  it’s difficult juggling a day job, personal growth, keeping an eye on the foundation of my business and leaving space to come up with creative concepts for clients. The challenge is turning everything else off so that my creative juices can freely flow which usually happens at 3am or 4am in the morning. And I keep grounded by investing in thought partners (consultants and close friends) who can give me insight and hold me accountable to my goals.

FGM: How did you acquire  the ability to work under pressure to beat meet deadlines as a entrepreneur ?

Answer:  I try not to overwhelm myself but sometimes it’s unavoidable. When the pressure is on I tap into my meditation training or write it down in my diary. Sometimes a quick breathing  exercise or free writing your emotions out can work wonders to give you the clarity that you need.

FGM: What is your favorite inspirational point, place, to develop new brand developments?

Answer:  My old place have been at the parks (especially Union Square or Gramercy) however, with COVID, now my new space to come up with ideas to level up my brand is my new home office.

FGM: Which current public figure, are you inspired by or appreciate the most?

Answer:  All of my life, my Inspiration figures have always been the matriarchs in my family - they were where I drew my strength. As for a current public figure, I would say Michelle Obama. Ms Obama exudes strength, humility and a badass style that the women in my family possess(ed).

FGM: How do you handle stress ?

Answer:  I tap onto my breathing exercises and, if I’m home, I’ll burn some white sage to get me through.

FGM: What are the three qualities you  feel an entrepreneur must have ?

Answer:  I think all entrepreneurs should possess empathy for others, good communication and a genuine passion for the work that they do.

FGM:  Where do you see your business in 10 years ?How do you plan to get there ?

Answer: I see VySyn Photography being my main focus 24/7. If I stay on the path of holding myself accountable to my goals, staying focused on growth and being innovative in how I can address the needs of my clients, I will get there.

FGM: It was a pleasure speaking with you thank you for joining us

Answer: Same here! It was so wonderful to chat with you!
