Fashion Gxd Magazine: How did the idea for your business come about?
Answer: Spirituality has always been a big part of our life and we rely on prayer in everything we do, already having hustler, go-getter personalities the idea of Pray Hustle Dominate just was very natural and it was important for us to encourage others to keep this motto in mind and move in that order.
Fashion Gxd Magazine: How do you find people to bring into your organization that truly care about the organization the way you do?
Answer: It's very important when partnering with someone that both parties are on the same page, are in it for the same reasons and have the same level of dedication. The only sure way to know this is through COMMUNICATION! When my partner and I first set out to build our brand we had many conversations about what we both wanted our brand to be, what was important to us and what we were willing to devote to it. Not until we were 100% sure that it was right for BOTH of us did we move forward; it should be the same with anyone that you're bringing into your business.
Fashion Gxd Magazine: What three pieces of advice would you give to other children who want to become entrepreneurs?
Answer: First you must be willing to learn on your own! Don't rely on anyone to give you the answers, or the secret or the "plug". God bless the child that got his own, so whatever your passions are, make sure you learn and continue to learn all you need to know.
2nd: Don't be lazy & never give up! Anything worth having takes hard work and sacrifice to gain, there will be up and downs and you won't always feel like putting in all the work that it takes to succeed. Sometimes it will feel like you'll never reach your goals and you question why you're even doing it, that's when you PRAY and ask God for the strength to keep going. Never underestimate prayer!
3rd: Don't look for validation from anyone else, you have to know 100% within yourself that this is what you should be doing. People who you love and respect and whose opinions you value will not get your vision, because its YOURS! They may mean well when they try to dissuade you from your goals, but that's where your self-confidence and trust in your vision will play a major role.
Fashion Gxd Magazine: If you had the chance to start your career over again, what would you do differently?
Answer: Have more patience, not be so quick to wanna release content and product. Pressure from others will make you second guess yourself, but you have to trust what you know. We learned that the hard way lol
Fashion Gxd Magazine: What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?
Answer: To be a self-starter, resilient & determined
Fashion Gxd Magazine: What have been some of your failures, and what have you learned from them?
Answer: When we first released one of our products it wasn't quite right but we rushed the release anyways, needless to say, we received some interesting feedback from customers. But that taught us a huge lesson in patience, making sure that we're putting out the highest quality in the time that WE know we need to and not letting outside influences dictate that.
Fashion Gxd Magazine: How many hours do you work a day on average?
Answer: We're constantly working and brainstorming sooo I'd say 16-18 hours a day lol
Fashion Gxd Magazine: Describe/outline your typical day?
Answer: To start the day we first give thanks to God reading a daily inspirational text. Then check our emails, we're huge on communication with our customers and being available to them quickly with whatever they need, so that's first and foremost. Then we check on our store looking at our analytics seeing how we've done the day before and checking to see where we can make improvements. Then it's off to social media, today it's so important to be active and engaged online to make a presence for your brand. We're still a new brand so there are a lot of connections we still need to make, at the same time throughout the day researching how we can improve our brand and what's next, we always want to be ahead of the curve!
Fashion Gxd Magazine : How has being an entrepreneur affected your family life?
Answer: Trying to balance being a mother, wife, a friend can be tricky, building a business is like taking care of a newborn, it takes all your time. So finding that balance, making sure time is being spent with loved ones is very important. We incorporate our families in our business and brand every way we can to maintain that bond.
Fashion Gxd Magazine: What motivates you?
Answer: Our family! Wanting to provide them with generational wealth, business skills & knowledge that was not passed down to us.
Fashion Gxd Magazine: How do you generate new ideas?
Answer: We're both really creative, so it may sound funny but literally ideas just pop in our mind and we bounce them off one another, we play with designs, colors, looks, etc. We'll be out and I may see a jacket and say to my self that would look great with PHD on it! So we're constantly brainstorming and thinking about new designs and ways to showcase our products and market them. Also staying up on what's new and what people are gravitating toward, then finding ways to make that into our own "trend".
Fashion Gxd Magazine : What sacrifices have you had to make to be a successful entrepreneur?
Answer: Time, sleep & money. The time that you would otherwise spend maybe surfing the internet, binging Netflix or even going out gets replaced with "no I'd rather stay in or take this time to work on my business". Whatever extra money you may have you will always find a way to put back into your business, whereas before you may have "treated yourself"
Fashion Gxd Magazine : Where you see yourself and your business in 10 years? 20 years?
Answer: Our brand being a household name and in stores throughout the globe! Most importantly inspiring everyone to go out Pray, Hustle & Dominate.
