Fashion Gxd Magazine : How did the idea for your business come about?
Coyetta CEO: As a natural hair woman the idea started when I saw that there was shame surrounding naturals girls wearing extensions. I wanted to show that it's okay to want options even though they chose to be natural.
Fashion Gxd Magazine : How do you find people to bring into your organization that truly care about the organization the way you do?
Coyetta CEO: Right now we are a small company however I will be looking for people who are passionate, knowledgeable or at least willing to learn and someone with great customer service skills. I believe that last piece is the key.
Fashion Gxd Magazine : What three pieces of advice would you give to college students who want to become entrepreneurs?
Coyetta CEO: I would say research your craft,work twice as hard as the person you admire in your field and be persistent. It's easy to give up but it's hard to fight and keep going.
Fashion Gxd Magazine :If you had the chance to start your career over again, what would you do differently?
Coyetta CEO: I wouldn't do anything differently because I believe everything is happening at the right time, however, there is always room for improvement.
Fashion Gxd Magazine :What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?
Coyetta CEO: Excellent customer service skills, an ability to read the market and adaptability.
Fashion Gxd Magazine :What have been some of your failures, and what have you learned from them?
Coyetta CEO: Most of my pitfalls revolved around communication so I have learned to communicate more effectively.
Fashion Gxd Magazine : How many hours do you work a day on average?
Coyetta CEO: I'm always working even when I'm sleeping I'm calculating my next move.
Fashion Gxd Magazine :Describe/outline your typical day?
Coyetta CEO: I wake up, give thanks to God and start working while taking care of my family needs, and also interacting with customers and vendors. My work life usually ends about 12am.
Fashion Gxd Magazine : How has being an entrepreneur affected your family life?
Coyetta CEO: I'm constantly doing something for the business so sometimes it has my attention more than other things but my family is pretty understanding and they know what is at stake.
Fashion Gxd Magazine :What motivates you?
Coyetta CEO: My family motivates me, freedom from corporate life motivates me and giving the best to others motivates me. I want people to be accepting and unashamed so that keeps me going.
Fashion Gxd Magazine: How do you generate new ideas?
Coyetta CEO: I'm always thinking and searching. I like to explore to what's hot or what the markets needs and that helps generate new ideas or how to make an existing idea better.
Fashion Gxd Magazine : What sacrifices have you had to make to be a successful entrepreneur?
Coyetta CEO: Time with family and friends and financial sacrifices. It's not easy starting a business with no real finances but step by step we make it happen.
Fashion Gxd Magazine : Where you see yourself and your business in 10 years? 20 years?
Coyetta CEO: I see my business expanding and evolving into a major brand with salons attached. The future is bright!
