Fashion Gxd Magazine : How did the idea for your business come about?
Yes Daddy Cosmetics: The idea for Yes Daddy Cosmetics was an Alter Ego to my original beauty line i wanted to launch, It was called Forte Cosmetics and it was supposed to be more of a serious, chic and sophisticated brand. Whereas YDC was the fun, glitter filled girly girl parallel. I was having so much fun creating the brand that i decided to stick with my instincts and launch it first.

Fashion Gxd Magazine : How do you find people to bring into your organization that truly care about the organization the way you do?
Yes Daddy Cosmetics: It’s all about authenticity and consistency . I look for people who have a passion for what they do and want to create some amazing concepts and visuals. The passion is what brings the work to life.

Fashion Gxd Magazine : What three pieces of advice would you give to other children  who want to become entrepreneurs?
Yes Daddy Cosmetics: My first thing would be to accept failure as a way to learn and grow. Your perception of what failure is will be a major key in what kind of entrepreneur you are. My second thing is to remain consistent, whether it’s marketing or operations, make sure you’re keeping up with all your tasks, even if it seems like you're not getting quick enough results. It all pays off in the end. My third thing to advise is, to surround yourself with all the things and people that motivate you, they’ll be constant reminders of what your end goal is and at times when you feel a bit discouraged, it’ll help you get back on your feet.

Fashion Gxd Magazine :If you had the chance to start your career over again, what would you do differently?
Yes Daddy Cosmetics: I would love to say that i wouldn't change anything and that my journey so far has made me the business woman i am today but that’s a little cliche these days. I wish i was more organized when i first started out, tracking how much i spent on my business and how much i was making. Things like that would’ve helped me alot.

Fashion Gxd Magazine :What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur ?
Yes Daddy Cosmetics: 1. Computer Literacy and Social Media skills. 2. Public Speaking. 3.Interpersonal skills aka People Skills

Fashion Gxd Magazine :What have been some of your failures, and what have you learned from them?
Yes Daddy Cosmetics: I had a clothing line before Yes Daddy Cosmetics and that, in my opinion, was a huge failure. I kept pressuring myself to produce more, add more and have as much variety as i could. I didn't stay true to my vision. I ended up rebranding and putting it on hold. I learned to stick to my goals no matter what, and that some things take time.

Fashion Gxd Magazine : How many hours do you work a day on average?
Yes Daddy Cosmetics: Being a small business owner, the work never stops, i’m constantly on the clock. Answering emails, posting on social media, making sure orders are fulfilled, updating items in stock, handling shipping. Everything is pretty much done by me. On top of that i work full time at a hotel.

Fashion Gxd Magazine :Describe/outline your typical day?
Yes Daddy Cosmetics: On a typical day, i’d start by checking my stats on Instagram, how many impressions i got the previous day and things like that. Then i go straight to my business email and follow up with questions. If i have any orders pending , i get the shipping information and send out the tracking emails. Then it’s time to find and post content for social media platforms, that happens all day everyday until it’s time for me to sleep and do it all again tomorrow. Based on the stats that i looked at earlier i try to have posts that will double my impressions. After that i’m making sure i have all my supplies, and plan out when i’ll be reordering. I take a peek at my calendar and make sure i’m on track. That’s how it plays out, it's pretty much a cycle that goes on throughout the day.

Fashion Gxd Magazine : How has being an entrepreneur affected your family life?
Yes Daddy Cosmetics: If anything it’s improved my family life. They support me where i need it.

Fashion Gxd Magazine :What motivates you?
Yes Daddy Cosmetics: The idea of being influential motivates me. I want to be able to spread knowledge , and help people in parts of the world that can easily get ignored. My plan is to make a difference.

Fashion Gxd Magazine: How do you generate new ideas?
Yes Daddy Cosmetics: I’m inspired by everything around me. Different parts of the world, history, .music, and film. You can pull an idea out of anything and make it uniquely yours.

Fashion Gxd Magazine : What sacrifices have you had to make to be a successful entrepreneur?
Yes Daddy Cosmetics: I wanted to move to Atlanta recently, i really love the city, but i made the decision that it would be best for my business to stay right in Connecticut.

Fashion Gxd Magazine : Where you see yourself and your business in 10 years? 20 years?
Yes Daddy Cosmetics: I see my business flourishing in 10- 20 years, i want i create jobs for people, i want to have a brand that’s honest, true to its customers and stands up for the right things in life. Hopefully i’m able to open up more business that i want to have as well. I want to be a household name.
