This week we sat down with the rising brand 79 Roze. 79 Roze (like the flower Rose) is a black dress shop boutique catering to the curvy ladies or “curvy divas” as we like to call them. Women are generally self critical and conscious about their weight. Our philosophy is simple, we believe every women should feel beautiful and embrace their curves. A black dress for a woman is equivalent to a black suit for a man and can be worn to any occasion. We offer fashionable and affordable little black dresses for curvy women. Fashion Gxd Magazine : How did the idea for your business come about?
Answer: The concept came after hearing frustrations from friends and family about not being able to find quality dresses for curves at the mall or major department stores. The focus for black dresses was a way to provide a competitive advantage and make me stand out from other boutiques.
Fashion Gxd Magazine : How do you find people to bring into your organization that truly care about the organization the way you do?
Answer: A part of our mission is to promote body positivity and self esteem so it’s imperative that anyone looking to partner with us holds those same values.
Fashion Gxd Magazine : What three pieces of advice would you give to other children who want to become entrepreneurs?
Answer: 1. Your business should solve a solution to a problem and be easily accessible. Consumers want quick and easy and if your products is too cumbersome to use or access, they will move on to the next thing. 2. Find a competitive advantage with your product or service, that’s what keeps people coming back. For an example, if you sell cookies, what ingredients do you use that no one else is using? 3. Have patience and be consistent. It’s hard work, but it does really pay off.
Fashion Gxd Magazine :If you had the chance to start your career over again, what would you do differently?
Answer: I always wanted to be a fashion stylist before it was a popular job. If I could do it again, I would pursue that, then use that platform to boost my dress shop.
Fashion Gxd Magazine :What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur ?
Answer: 1) Marketing skills and the ability to connect with all consumers 2) Ability to understand and use social media at your advantage 3) Grit for dealing with the ebbs and flows of business life cycle.
Fashion Gxd Magazine :What have been some of your failures, and what have you learned from them?
Answer: Research my target market before buying inventory. Know what sells and how to move it. Raise capital and/or have a fund to pay the bills when the sales are low.
Fashion Gxd Magazine : How many hours do you work a day on average?
Answer: With the balance of other work, about 12 hours a day.
Fashion Gxd Magazine :Describe/outline your typical day?
Answer: A typical day after getting my son off to school and balancing my “other work” would include responding to customer requests or inquiries which could take you in several directions. Posting on social media and engaging my followers. Researching new merchandise or events to get in front of a new audience.
Fashion Gxd Magazine : How has being an entrepreneur affected your family life?
Answer: It’s tough at times to be away from my family hosting events or working in the shop.

Answer: Creating a world where I’m my own boss, leaving a legacy for my family and helping a women feel great about herself.
Fashion Gxd Magazine: How do you generate new ideas?
Answer: Suggestions from customers, talking with other boutiques and researching best practices.
Fashion Gxd Magazine : What sacrifices have you had to make to be a successful entrepreneur?
Answer: My social life has taken a back seat. Sometimes rest and sleep.
Fashion Gxd Magazine : Where you see yourself and your business in 10 years? 20 years?
Answer 10 years, I would love to have a chain of stores in major cities and become an angel investor for women entrepreneurs. 20 years, I hope have passed down the reins to my kids and I would be traveling the world helping women get their businesses off the ground.
