"Stay focus don’t let negativity, business failures, and even success distract you from your goals."

Fashion Gxd Magazine : How did the idea for your business come about?

Queen Sheba beauty:I have always been a naturalist; I’m the friend that warns against all the harmful chemicals that are in our food and body products. Unfortunately, last year my mother became a burn victim, suffering 3rd degree burns over half her body. Once she was able to moisturize her skin I was confused as to why the hospital encouraged the use of the bigger name products knowing there is no way a product that contains chemicals, alcohol and unnatural dyes could benefit her recovery. During her hospitalization, I began to research alternative skin care options. Once she came home, I was able to focus on her skin health and that success made me want to share this with others.

Fashion Gxd Magazine : How do you find people to bring into your organization that truly care about the organization the way you do?

Queen Sheba beauty: I haven’t had figured that out yet.  I believe no one could ever value my vision the way I do. Currently I do the work by myself; it helps ensure the quality of my products meet my high standards. I do have a few close friends and family that I use as advisor because of their business insight and resources. I do trust their judgment and use it to help keep my business on track.

Fashion Gxd Magazine : What three pieces of advice would you give to other children  who want to become entrepreneurs?

Queen Sheba beauty: Three key pieces of advice I could offer any aspiring entrepreneur is stay dedicated, nothing can happen overnight and if it does it will probably be gone quicker than it came. Second, document everything and I mean everything! Whether you use a notebook or a computer, document everything related to your business. All ideas, visions and/or goals you have and your action plan to achieve them. Lastly, use rejection as a growth and motivation tool, having your business or idea rejected by someone who means anything to you can be hard but don’t let another person close mind deter your dreams.

Fashion Gxd Magazine :If you had the chance to start your career over again, what would you do differently?

Queen Sheba beauty:

Nothing, honestly I feel everything happens for a reason and only when the time is right. The mistakes I made are what led me hear I wouldn’t change those.

Fashion Gxd Magazine :What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur ?

Queen Sheba beauty: Focus. Stay focus don’t let negativity, business failures, and even success distract you from your goals. Be a student and a teacher. Be open to new opportunities and dedicate time into learning new skills/tools to grow your business. Stay motivated. Never take failure or ignorance as a defeat, instead use it to help grow your business.

Fashion Gxd Magazine :What have been some of your failures, and what have you learned from them?

Queen Sheba beauty: I’m still learning how to successfully run my business, so I have definitely experience some failures. Recently I had to discard a huge amount of product. I was frustrated by that experience because I had inadvertently used the wrong measurements. This taught how important it is to be patient and precise. It wasn’t a good feeling but, I’d rather make mistakes now and use them as a tool to learn and grow.

Fashion Gxd Magazine : How many hours do you work a day on average?

Queen Sheba beauty: I’m a mom of a toddler.  I work 24/7! With a new business I’m always brainstorming about ways to develop my business and brand. I constantly jot down new ideas in my “build book”, and researching different aspect of the business.

Fashion Gxd Magazine :Describe/outline your typical day?

Queen Sheba beauty:  I’m usually woken up by 8am with my son standing over me asking for his bottle. I get up to make him breakfast then, I go do my morning yoga to get myself centered for the day. Afterwards I get my “build book” (business notebook) take some time to write down my goals for the day. If it’s Monday I write down weekly goals. I will then review and post on my social media accounts. My son is usually at my side through all of this then I’m in mommy mode until I put him down for a nap. During that time I can go back to working on the business, check inventory, placing orders, planning for any upcoming events. Once the baby wakes we run errands.  Afterwards, I put him to bed I can focus on filling orders and working on new products, until about 2-3a.m. Then I am off to bed.

Fashion Gxd Magazine : How has being an entrepreneur affected your family life?

Queen Sheba beauty: I still try to dedicate most of my time and focus to my son, but having the time to go on multiple play dates in a week has definitely become limited as my business grows.  My son is learning to go with the flow, and as long as we are out and about he is a happy baby.

Fashion Gxd Magazine :What motivates you?

Queen Sheba beauty: My number one motivation would be my son, like any parent all you want to do is provide the best life conceivable for your child. Then there is my passion for living as healthy life as possible and promoting ways others could live a healthier natural life. It really makes me feel good when I hear my friends or people close to me say something about eating organic or 100% juice for their kids, I want more people especially people of color to become more aware of healthier lifestyle options.

Fashion Gxd Magazine: How do you generate new ideas?

Queen Sheba beauty: I get new ideas when I see body products that may offer beneficial elements like moisture or hair products that promote growth. I read the ingredients and the first is usually water or 5 different alcohols. That’s always disappointing so always think if I can make natural alternatives. Also, when customers request natural alternatives, I use those request as inspiration to develop products.

Fashion Gxd Magazine : What sacrifices have you had to make to be a successful entrepreneur?

Queen Sheba beauty: I have invested a lot of time, energy, and money into my business. I don’t go out as much with friends or go shopping. My main focus is developing my business and my brand and I really just see all the other activities as a distraction. It’s important to me to dedicate all my resources to my business goals.

Fashion Gxd Magazine : Where you see yourself and your business in 10 years? 20 years?

Queen Sheba beauty: I see my products being widely available. I see it on shelves in major department stores as a healthy option for skin and hair care.  I envision it being a known and approved product by all natural body care product lovers in the world.  I see my brand growing into a strong platform that I can utilize to give back and teach my communities through nonprofit work, I want my organization to be a resource to young people, especially parents who many not be financially stable, on ways to better their circumstances.
