"Do not think your idea is too big" - Aysia B.

Fashion Gxd Magazine : How did the idea for your business come about?

Aysia B Accessories: I’ve always had a love for bold jewelry since I was in the 7th grade. Anytime you saw me you knew that I was going to have really unique earrings on or an overly large necklace and the way people reacted to these pieces made me think, “Wouldn’t it be great if I could create something bold, like the pieces I wear, for other people?” And so I began to draw sketches of things I’d like to see and always said to myself that when I am older, I’ll have my own accessory line, and here I am.

Fashion Gxd Magazine : How do you find people to bring into your organization that truly  care about the organization the way you do?

Aysia B:  At this moment, it’s my family who is a part of the operations of Aysia B. Accessories. Fortunately I have a family who loves to be involved in all that I do and they have always been supportive every step of the way from development to production.

Fashion Gxd Magazine : What three pieces of advice would you give to other children  who want to become entrepreneurs?

Aysia B.  1. Do not think your idea is too big 2. Failure happens, but you cannot let that one moment of failure stop you from pursuing you goals. 3. Be patient – Do not rush the process of growth and learning when it comes to developing your business and perfecting your craft.

Fashion Gxd Magazine :If you had the chance to start your career over again, what would you do differently?

Aysia B : If I had the chance to start my career over, I would not wait so long to be serious about Aysia B. Accessories. I’ve had the idea for years and in that time, I wish that I had looked into what it really takes in regards to the legal side of business, budgeting, marketing and networking.

Fashion Gxd Magazine :What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur ?

Aysia B : 1. Commitment  - You have to really want your business to prosper, and be dedicated to the vision you have for your future. There are times where things may go bad, but if you’re dedicated to the success of your business, you will push through. 2. Time Management – Being able to assign a time for things helps a business run smoother and makes life less stressful. It’s one of the greatest organizational skills as it can help determine when you should produce products to when it’s time to whine down.  3. Effective Communicating – Whether it is communicating with a customer, business partner or an employee, you have got to know how to talk to all kinds of people. Communicating your ideas, issues and solutions the right way can attract positive results towards you and your business.

Fashion Gxd Magazine :What have been some of your failures, and what have you learned from them?

Aysia B : Earlier on when I first launched Aysia B. Accessories I had set weekly sales goals that I wasn’t reaching and I know that it’s because I was not marketing my items how I needed to. I was not posting about my products enough on my social media platforms, which is important to do. I was afraid to share my business, but I had to realize that if I want people to know about my accessory company, I’ve got to put it out there.

Fashion Gxd Magazine : How many hours do you work a day on average?

Aysia B.: I work about 8-12 hours a day, depending on which tasks needs to be done.

Fashion Gxd Magazine :Describe/outline your typical day?

Aysia B : I begin my day with reading a few of my emails, then move onto checking all of my social media sites. Then I head to Square space and check analytics and any new orders that may have come in. If I have some orders to complete, I take the whole day doing that. Then I’ll write out my thank you cards, and prepare the orders for shipment.

Fashion Gxd Magazine : How has being an entrepreneur affected your family life?

Aysia B: It’s affected my family in the most positive way. Some of my family members have started to take their business ideas seriously and have began to take the necessary steps to bring their idea into fruition.

Fashion Gxd Magazine :What motivates you?

Aysia B: I know we’ve talked about family a couple of times already, but my family is what motivates me on the daily. They’ve molded me into who I am, and who I am is destined for greatness. I want to make them proud and I know that by pursuing my dreams persistently I am doing that.

Fashion Gxd Magazine: How do you generate new ideas?

Aysia B: I’m really inspired by shapes and architectural designs. So I see a building like the pyramid of Giza and imagine how I can incorporate a pyramid into one of my designs.

Fashion Gxd Magazine : What sacrifices have you had to make to be a successful entrepreneur?

Aysia B : When I first started investing into my business, I was using my own money, so I had to cut down on my expenses in regards to going and eating out. I am a very social person and I would go out almost every weekend so that was hard for me. There was always an event that I really wanted to go to, but I knew for the sake of my wallet and my business, I had to make a sacrifice.

Fashion Gxd Magazine : Where you see yourself and your business in 10 years? 20 years?

Aysia B : In 10 years, I want to be at the point where I have to have a factory to make my jewelry because my creations would be in such a high demand. I would like to have a storefront in major cities such as Los Angeles, Atlanta, D.C. and New York. I would also love to create for other businesses such as Forever 21 and ASOS. In 20 years, I’d be collaborating with many celebrities and influencers and also I’d be experienced and skilled in the creation of fine jewelry. And within these 20 years Aysia B. Accessories will transform to include apparel too.
