Fashion Gxd Magazine :What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?
KLK Event & Design:The top three skills any successful entrepreneur needs are strong communication skills, discipline to be able to do what you are supposed to do, and motivation to carry out the tasks for the job.
Fashion Gxd Magazine : What have been some of your failures, and what have you learned from them?
KLK Event & Design:My biggest failure was trying to do this alone. In business, everyone needs someone and I always say collaboration is far better than competition. Working with others doesn’t mean you can’t do it alone. It just shows you are mature enough not to.
Not charging what I was worth has been another failure. When we discount our pricing and not our services along with it, we give clients permission to not value or worth. I learned that people will pay for what they want as long as you ask for it.
Fashion Gxd Magazine :How many hours do you work a day on average?
KLK Event & Design:I work about 8-10 hours a day on various projects for clients.
Fashion Gxd Magazine :Describe/outline your typical day?
KLK Event & Design: My typical day starts with creating a task list for the day if I didn’t create it the night before. Once my task list is created then I do my daily devotion and prayer. I then brainstorm for 5 minutes. I just let my mind loose and write down anything that comes up. I then turn those thoughts into ideas for the business. I then move on to emails and social media. I spend about 15 mins per task so that I don’t get bored or burnout. I make phone calls or send out text messages to clients or vendors regarding events. My business partner, Kimberly, and I have regularly scheduled phone calls to update each other on various stages of our projects. My day typically doesn’t end until 9 or 10 pm at night. Depending on the workload, I’m up all night.
