Tell us a little about your brand and how you've come to this vastly successful peak in your career.
My brand Theladyinstyle was founded in 2020 it was formally known as Westyleu I had a partner when the brand was founded however I decided that this was a vision I had wanted for myself ever since I was a little girl so I decided to venture out on my own, that was when I re named it Theladyinstyle which embodies who I am A lady with style and elegance. My brand was created to elevate the everyday women’s style and make them look glamorous and confident. The ladyinstyle woman is stylish, classy, and polished. I have reached a successful peak now based on my reputation for being exceptionally professional. I absolutely love what I do and for that reason every client gets to be pampered by me. I get repeat clients just because they enjoy the way I make them feel while they are being spoiled by me.
Who are the clients/what are the projects that you most enjoy working on? Clients I enjoy working with are everyday women for their milestone birthdays.
I love working with these clients because I get to transform them from their everyday looks to something completely different and out of this world. I am usually very involved in the creative process. I style all my clients from head to toe, from the Hairstyle to the makeup I decide on every look to curated to fit the styles I have selected for each person. The outfits are usually bespoke and made specially for my client.
How do you feel you make a difference in the world?
I feel like I am making a difference in the world by empowering women everyday to reach their highest potential through fashion. It’s a language that speaks volume without words. By embracing individuality, cultivating confidence, and expressing creativity. The style becomes a powerful force for positive change.
Tell us about a time when you showed determination to continue as an entrepreneur.
As a serial entrepreneur I am constantly told NO, I sometimes feel like every milestone I try to achieve I get the door slammed in my face. This can truly be discouraging and in my private moment I just want to throw in the towels and give up, however how will I advise my daughter that she can do whatever she puts her mind to if I quit. I just decided to face the challenges
head on by being persistent through all my setbacks and taking each No as a learning experience, maintaining a relentless focus on my goals, showcasing resilience in the face of adversity and overall learning from my past failures. I believe my entrepreneurial journey will become a testament to the tenacity that moves me forward in life.
FGM: Give me the three best qualities of your brand.
Three best qualities of my brand are:
1.Creativity: My brand is highly creative, and I can confidently say nobody is doing what we are doing. We are constantly innovating and pushing boundaries to deliver fresh and inspiring styles.
2.Adaptability: In the ever-evolving world of fashion and style we strive to remain relevant by staying tuned to current trends.
3. Personalization: The ability to tailor styling needs to individuals’ preferences is a hallmark of a great stylist brand. Also understanding and being able to curate a look that fits everyone’s tastes and lifestyle to create a more personalized experience.
FGM: Give me an example of when you worked irregular hours.
I work irregular hours daily, as a serial entrepreneur my day starts at 3a.m. I decided to adapt to this schedule because that is the only time, I have total silence and I can accomplish so much. It’s a great practice to adapt. You will be surprised how much you accomplish when everyone is asleep.
FGM: Being an entrepreneur is a 24/7 job, how did you get ready for that?
I believe I was born and prepared for this life as a young child. I watched my mom build a successful children’s clothing brand from scratch which she nurtured and ran for over 27 years as a single mom of three she worked very hard and that is what I saw growing up. I do not know any other way to be but to be a hard-working woman. The job of an entrepreneur never ends, you are constantly put in situations where you have to wear multiple hats and make decisions on the go.
FGM: How did you acquire the ability to work under pressure to beat meet deadlines as an entrepreneur? Knowing that the only thing we cannot get back in life is Time. The only way to meet deadlines is to prioritize and create time for what you really want to do. Time waits for no one, time is money. Once you know this and you keep this at the back of your head you will always create the necessary time to beat that deadline.
Organization: Maintaining a well-organized schedule, workspace and task list will help minimize stress and enhance your productivity.
Problem-solve: Making informed decisions under pressure and lastly train yourself to stay focused on the task at hand and try to minimize distractions to maintain clarity.
FGM: What is your favorite inspirational point, or place, to develop new brand developments? I will say when I am completely relaxed and unplugged from my day-to-day routine. For example, when I am on vacation traveling the world and absorbing other cultures
and experiences. Another will be fashion events, I attend industry events to stay abreast of the latest trends, connecting with like minded people and gain insights into emerging styles.
FGM: Which current public figure are you inspired by or appreciate the most?
Michelle Obama: I chose her because I admire her intelligence and grace. As the first African American first lady is a powerful symbol of achievement and resilience. She constantly emphasized inclusivity and championed diversity. Her presence in the public eye showcased the strength and contributions of women from diverse backgrounds, fostering a sense of belonging and representation which really resonates with who I am.
FGM: How do you handle stress?
I manage stress by sometimes taking breaks and resting to prevent burnout to ensure I am giving myself enough time to rest and rejuvenate.
Another is Positive self-talk- I try to replace negative thoughts with positive affirmations to change my mindset to a more optimistic mind.
Lastly, just surround myself with the people who love and care for me and who want to see me win.
FGM: What are the three qualities you feel an entrepreneur must have? Determination to succeed, Resilience, and Courage to keep pushing.
FGM: Where do you see your business in 10 years? How do you plan to get there?
I see my business being a household name styling A-list celebrities and women of power. I would also love to be able to blend my style from my background into today’s fashion.
FGM: It was a pleasure speaking with you thank you for joining us.
