How do you balance the roles of being a mother and a manager to your celebrity kids, Sevyn-Milan and Khamari Frazier? Honestly, I’m mom 24/7. I try to have certain hours of where I’m just committed to doing work. So I don’t put too much on myself. Some days can be easier than others.
What inspired you to take on the role of a "momager" for your children's careers in writing and fashion design? The role just came naturally to me. Also, I know that I have my children’s best interests in mind.
Can you share with us a memorable moment in your journey as a momager that has had a significant impact on your children's careers? For my oldest daughter Khamari I can meet people in the fashion industry. I can’t forget NYFW. Milan seeing her on a billboard was so breathtaking. Having an opportunity to partner with BarnesandNoble to do an ebook.
What advice do you have for other parents who are considering managing their children's careers in the entertainment industry? Be very knowledgeable about the industry. Network with other parents in the industry. Make sure you explain the ins and outs of the business.
How do you support and nurture the individual talents and aspirations of both Sevyn-Milan and Khamari in their respective fields? Allowing each child to be themselves. Catering to each child's profession. Also doing fun activities that include each child's respective field.
What challenges have you faced as a momager, and how have you overcome them to ensure the success of your children? Letting them be a kid and also keeping the business going can be challenging . Knowing when to take on a project. You have to know when to be a mom and manager. There are times when you’re going to be both, but you have to separate them. When I feel challenged I just honestly ask GOD for guidance.
In what ways do you encourage creativity and innovation in your children's work while also ensuring their well-being and happiness? I include simple tasks. As for Milan letting her pick books for me to read to her. Khamari we will watch fashion shows and go to the fabric store.
How do you handle the pressures and demands of the entertainment industry while prioritizing your family's values and beliefs? Keeping GOD first in everything even the smallest thing. Also, make sure we have self-care days.
Can you tell us about any upcoming projects or collaborations that your children are working on, and how you are involved in supporting their endeavors? The Khamarifrazier brand is currently revamping because she was only 11 when she started now she’s a 15-year-old teenager. So we have to cater to her newfound audience. Milan is currently starting her book tour where she will be reading at schools and Barnes and Noble. My involvement is very instrumental with making sure they have a solid foundation while supporting them.
What legacy do you hope to leave behind as a mother and manager for Sevyn-Milan and Khamari Frazier in the entertainment and fashion industries? My legacy is for them to be able to be self-sufficient and recognize good and bad opportunities. Give back to the community. Standing firm in what you believe. Go after your dream and never quit. Breaking generational curses and being able to pass generational wealth down the bloodline. Most of all Knowing and keeping GOD first.
