Fashion Gxd Magazine : How did the idea for your business come about?
Earth’s Ambrosia Hair Care (CEO) : Wow let’s see. I came up with the idea of Earth’s Ambrosia Hair Care by Erika after I started my own Urban Garden. One of my grandsons, who was 2 yrs old at the time, had severe allergies to many foods. I then decided to grow my own organic herbs and vegetables to provide clean food. I ended up studying different herbal and organic alternatives to medicine as well as I took a nutrition college course. I was asked by many family and friends if I could create an all-natural hair product that actually works. Many were dealing with slow hair growth and shedding hair, so I started researching and experimenting. I sent out initial samples of the product to my fellow LOC wearing sisters and they were amazed. My first product created was “The Time To Grow Serum” and it his been a hit with the natural and permed hair community. And that is how the idea of Earth’s Ambrosia Hair Care by Erika came about.
Fashion Gxd Magazine : How do you find people to bring into your organization that truly care about the organization the way you do?
Earth’s Ambrosia Hair Care (CEO) :I am very blessed to have a very talented family full of entrepreneurs. I believe in involving family and others who are innovators and have vision. I surround myself with people who never settle for less and believe in seeing others successful. I often sit down with individuals that grab my attention and I feel I can trust. One of my criteria for one working on my team first you must be giving back to the community and they must believe the Earth can heal if we use it the right way.
Fashion Gxd Magazine : What three pieces of advice would you give to other children who want to become entrepreneurs?
Earth’s Ambrosia Hair Care (CEO) : The three pieces of advice I would give to children who want to become entrepreneurs would be
1. Remove the word “can’t” from your vocabulary because the minute you use that word you immediately put limitations on yourself.
2. Remain positive at all times even in the face of adversity. Holding fast a positive attitude always yields positive results. Never ever give negativity a place to stay because negativity spreads and eventually destroys.
3. Make sure you love what you do. Run your business because it’s your passion and not merely for the sake of making money. Also, run your business in excellence because people are always watching your moves.
Fashion Gxd Magazine :If you had the chance to start your career over again, what would you do differently?
Earth’s Ambrosia Hair Care (CEO) : Honestly, I don’t think I would do anything differently because all the factor both good and bad were my learning tools to get me to this point. If I didn’t take my previous journey I do not think I would be here today with you interviewing me. But I will say I would have done less complaining and more being grateful.
Fashion Gxd Magazine :What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur ?
Earth’s Ambrosia Hair Care (CEO) : The top 3 skills I believe a successful entrepreneur needs

Fashion Gxd Magazine :What have been some of your failures, and what have you learned from them?
Earth’s Ambrosia Hair Care (CEO) : I can’t say I have had many failures. I have had disappointments. One thing I learned early on in business is to make sure you surround yourself with a reliable team and make sure your team consist of more than family and friends. You don’t want to be surrounded by a bunch of yes people. You want constructive criticism, so your business will grow.
Fashion Gxd Magazine : How many hours do you work a day on average?
Earth’s Ambrosia Hair Care (CEO) : I would say I work an average of 10-12 hours a day depending if I am just mixing in the lab or if I am doing administrative work.
Fashion Gxd Magazine :Describe/outline your typical day?
Earth’s Ambrosia Hair Care (CEO) : My typical day consist of me waking up around 6:30 am. I get my day started by watching CNN then I read a scripture , devotional or an inspirational video. I cook breakfast. I search thru all of my social media sites (I actually run 3 businesses) and update as needed. Some days are designated strictly for creating products while other days are strictly for administrative work such as ordering supplies and mailing products. The only exceptions are emails. I answer emails all day every day.
Fashion Gxd Magazine : How has being an entrepreneur affected your family life?
Earth’s Ambrosia Hair Care (CEO) : Entrepreneurship has been awesome. My husband works beside me when he’s not at his 9-5 job. All 3 of our children are grown and we have 6 grandchildren, so we get our grandchildren involved with little task. We also educate them on the different types of plants and herbs we use. We use the business as a fun teaching tool.

Fashion Gxd Magazine: How do you generate new ideas?
Earth’s Ambrosia Hair Care (CEO) : I have a team I work with and we have creative moments when we bounce ideas back and forth that will generate a new product. A lot of times customers will ask if I have a product that can do XYZ and I love a challenge, so I task myself to create the very product they are searching for. Lastly there are times when I just experiment with different combinations, some work and some don’t.
Fashion Gxd Magazine : What sacrifices have you had to make to be a successful entrepreneur?
