FGM: It's an honor to sit down with you all. Tell us a little about your brand and how you've come to this vastly successful peek in your career .
Demiere Cosmetics takes a minimalistic approach to cosmetics. We offer custom kits to our consumers. The kits are magnetic and easily refillable once the consumer's shade or color need to be replaced. The kit includes 2 foundations, 4 eyeshadows, and 2 blushes. When the line was launched in 2009, we had over 600 products, which was based mainly on the excitement of launching a new cosmetics line and believed I needed a lot to ensure I met everyone's needs. After years of watching sales trends, I realized most of my consumers were purchasing repeat items, while occasionally purchasing purchasing a special collection or a different lip shade. Veering away from 'The Look' that created the most confidence was not a priority. This observation sparked a relaunch in 2013 which centered around offering our infamous custom kit. These kits give the consumers exactly what is needed to achieve exactly the look that is needed for the perfect look and the maximum level of confidence every time. The pallet is easy to use, easy to travel with, cost effective and reduces application time. We also have a training platform that is available for our consumers to tips and tricks on how to apply our products! This pivot is what sets Demiere Cosmetics apart from other brands and what has contributed to my success.
FGM: Who are the clients/what are the projects that you most enjoy working on?
Our client is EVERY woman. We can cater to women in all walks of life. We service stay at home moms, models, brides, celebrities, CEOs etc. The project I enjoy working on is our live shopping experience. Our consumers have several avenues to purchase products via our live experience using app, website, or facebook via the CommentSold platform. Our app is available on Android and Apple devices. It has definitely been a gamechanger for the brand.
FGM: How do you feel you make a difference in the world?
I make a difference in the world by being transparent and vulnerable about my journey as an entrepreneur. We are in a time where everyone wants to see inside your life and relate. I want to be able to connect with my customers and viewers therefore reciprocating the feelings in business, life and relationships. Focusing on authenticity has been a part of the foundation that has helped my brand remain relevant in the cosmetics industry. Helping my consumers to feel more confident in their skin and not pressured to compete with someone else is needed and our everyday goal as a brand.
FGM: Give me the three best qualities of your brand
Demiere Cosmetics is cost effective, easy to apply, and minimalistic.
FGM: Give me an example of when you worked irregular hours?
As an entrepreneur a work schedule does not really this is a lifestyle for me that is more of a balancing act. This is important to know because I am not only a business woman I am also a wife and a mother.
FGM: How did you acquire the ability to work under pressure to beat meet deadlines as a entrepreneur ?
I have always been an entrepreneur and from my experiences being a lynchpin in what you do is imperative and one of my attributes that has always set me apart from the competition is my concentration on speed, efficiency, and quality with each individual I service.
FGM: What is your favorite inspirational point, place, to develop new brand developments?
My inspiration comes from always putting myself in the consumers shoes by asking myself consistently, "How can I simplify the makeup application and purchasing process?" My mission is to eliminate the intimidation factor.
FGM: How do you handle stress ?
Stress is a part of the journey so I handle it by never giving up, understanding my mission, and always working to ensure that Demiere Cosmetics meets my consumers needs through a streamline process during purchasing and the application process.
FGM: What are the three qualities you feel an entrepreneur must have ?
As an entrepreneur you must be able to pivot, evolve, and strategics.
FGM: Where do you see your business in 10 years ?How do you plan to get there ?
In 10 years I see my custom kits in every household. I will help consumers to understand that we do not need to over consume on beauty products. The Perfect Look and the Essential Products to achieve that look are what is most important. Once the confidence is established the essential collection of products can grow with the confidence to add a little pop or flare to one's look without the pressure of someone else's approval..
As a "Beauty Industry Expert" for 20 years I felt there was a need for the consumer to better understand how to purchase cosmetics as well as how to apply them. When I was a consumer, I would purchase every product and every collection known to man! They looked pretty but I would find myself only using my favorite few and had no idea on how to apply them. So the "WHY" behind Demiere Cosmetics is simple. I created a simple approach to purchasing products and the makeup application by offering custom kits and you can still achieve that perfect look!!
