As we sat in Green Squared Studios in Manhattan , the essence of fashion , music and positive energy marinated the room . Three Diverse Reality television stars ( Amina Buddafly of Love and Hip Hop New York , Dylan Dili of MTV Making the band and Flo Kaja of Oxygen "The Bad Girls Club" ) , music artist and most significantly parents were brought together to merge on the cover of Fashion Gxd Magazine. The room was filled with Bloggers, Publications , Mua artist , designers ...but most importantly positive energy. It really made me ponder where you get your fashion sense or even lack there of? In this issue of Fashion God we explore Generational/Digatlly Fashion. How does it influence us? Who was you style role model growing up? Was it your mom, grandmother, uncle...? Why do we choose to embrace or not embrace our fashionable/stylish sides? It was only it fitting that Pilar Scratch and Amina Buddafly happened to have their kids River and Cori on set with them.
While on set at the Fashion God shoot I did a lot of people watching. I watched Cori play with her mommy Amina BuddaFly as the cameras were flashing and apart from thinking it was absolutely adorable that she was caught on 95% of her mommy's photos, I wondered how Amina's fashionable, entertainment world would influence her(Cori's) personal style choices as she grows up. One might say that she's a baby and it's too early to wonder but childhood influences do shape us as adults and it's never too early to start observing. River is already a fashionisto trained and influenced by his mom Pilar. Is he still a playful rambunctious 4 year old? Yes, but he looks dapper doing it. He's already a brand ambassador and model at the tender age of 4 and I'd love to see how he transforms as he grows up.
As a child I watched my Grandmother dress in colourful dresses and shoes. It's like she had a rainbow of shoes to match every dress. And because she was a child of the late 1920s, she of course had a fabulous hat collection. My Mom was a big shoe and handbag lover when she was younger and owned some of the highest heeled shoes known to mankind. I guess it's because she's short but as a child she was a giant to me in more ways than just height. She gave me my first pair of heels at the age of 10.
